Biography
Donald Witter was born in Fremont, Ohio and graduated from Otterbein College and the University of Michigan Law School. He served for 4 years in the U. S. Marine Corps attaining the rank of Captain.
His early practice years were spent primarily in litigation representing insurance companies. He then practiced extensively in the area of labor relations and served as general counsel for West Ohio Gas Company practicing at the Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Don represented The Lima News for many years and this led to cases in local trial courts and the Ohio and U. S. Supreme Courts. Don’s current practice is specialized in the forming of corporations and LLCs, business sales and acquisitions, corporate and business law, wills, estate and trust planning, and the probate of estates. Don is admitted to practice before the Federal District Court, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and U. S. Court of Military Appeals. Among his practice highlights are the representation of a family in obtaining a $1.4 million settlement in a products liability case and the sale at Christie’s in New York for $1 million of a painting thought to be worthless by the heirs of the estate.
In his spare time Don is a skier and an avid collector of rare books.
